Are You Suffering From Knee Pain?

Knees take quite a bit of abuse when we play repetitive motion sports. Also, if one knee is injured, the opposite leg will take more stress from favoring the injury.

Chiropracticnow.com reports “Knee pain is one of the most commonly treated orthopedic ailments.” It also states, “Our knees are subject to a tremendous amount of weight-bearing forces. These forces are best handled in a straight forward to backward motion. This is the primary motion the knee joint was designed for.”

Chiropracticnow.com goes on to suggest that improper knee tracking, also called Runner’s Knee, is a common problem. The over-use stress and jarring of routine running activities coupled with a poor tracking ability of the kneecap will wear down and inflame the knee joint cartilage. The result will be pain, swelling, and dysfunction. Left untreated, these inflammatory knee disorders will lead to arthritis.

In our office we have several therapies that can help knee or joint pain as well as muscle issues. First, our chiropractor can determine how your knee is tracking. They have different manipulation techniques that can improve knee alignment. We also have therapies to improve the muscles and soft tissue surrounding the knee such as massage therapy, muscle taping and physical rehabilitation exercises.

We also offer doTerra essential oils such as our proprietary pain relief blend, Deep Blue, Frankincense and Marjoram. Essential oils are the world’s first medicine. They were used for healing for all of the years before modern medicine; only in the last 100-150 years has modern medicine improved.  These oils are the purest form of the plants, roots and trees that embody them.

Our bodies recognize and accept these oils as natural and allow the properties they bring to provide support at the source of the problem, often in the cells themselves. For example, Frankincense is known to help bones and soft tissue. It is a powerful anti-catarrhal, anticancer, antidepressant, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, expectorant, immune stimulant and sedative. Marjoram has been used to traditionally help support the muscles with symptoms like muscle spasms, rheumatism, stiff joints, and bruises.

We cannot overstate the importance of getting a good diagnosis and receiving the proper treatment. Chiropractors are specially trained to diagnose and treat underlying causes of symptoms like knee pain. By focusing on restoring communication from the brain throughout the body and to the extremities and by supporting the muscles and soft tissues, we can provide proper corrective measures to address these underlying causes of the symptom.
