Did you know that approximately 80-90% of the population suffers from spinal pain at some point?

Some people just choose to live with pain. Other people choose to seek out help or relief from the pain. Sometimes it is hard to know where to turn, isn’t it? But wherever you turn, ask yourself are they looking at the source of the pain or the symptom.

Our bodies are so amazing; they are made to heal themselves. The brain sends signals to every part of the body, actually to every cell, and is constantly listening and communicating what it needs to get all of our organs and body parts to work together. If this signal slows down or has increased interference, it can become hard to “decode”. Which would seriously affect communication, right? Sometimes this interference can even result in pain.

This video was recorded for Show and Tell Day in January, but it is a great
explanation about Subluxation. If you know someone who is in pain,
please share this blog with them!

Subluxations are a combination of this signal interference, and two or more of the following issues: changes in tissue and muscle tone, reduced range of motion, or a locking up of the joints. This locking of the vertebrae is caused because every vertebrae can move on 3 planes; think about it: front, back, left, right, left twist, right twist, right? So each vertebrae can lock-up, jam, or shift on any one of these planes, or even more than one. This may change or interfere with the signal that is sent to and from the brain. This interference or subluxation can cause malfunction, numbness, and/or pain. By moving the affected bones back into place with a chiropractic adjustment, the signal function is restored and the body can then start to repair itself.

You may say, “I’m sure I’m fine” or “I don’t have any pain, so I don’t have any subluxations.” But pain is often the last symptom to arrive and the first to leave. Our everyday physical, emotional and chemical stresses can cause subluxations without you even realizing it. Every action can have an effect on our body. The first subluxation can even occur at birth and the stress that is put on the baby’s body just to get into this world. Then we can fall over 2000 times just learning to walk. Then what about learning to ride a bike or participating in athletics, car accidents and every other part of growing up? People who are obese, smoke, lift heavy objects, or have had a previous episode of back pain, are even more likely to experience back pain.

But here is the hope: our body was meant to heal itself all we have to do is give it the tools. Regularly remove the subluxations, drink plenty of water, exercise, eat healthy, well-rounded meals and get enough rest. That’s it; that’s your prescription. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and remove subluxations and they are specialists with the entire nervous and musculo-skeletal systems.
