Most of the time our patients find us because they are in pain. But life is so much more than the absence of pain or illness, isn’t it? Our goal is to help our patients find their path to physical wellness so they can enjoy the people and activities they love.

I love this quote from the University of California, Riverside website. We would love to help as many patients as possible get to this point in their lives where they feel like diet, exercise, activity and overall health are in balance.

After our patients start feeling better (meaning) they are out of pain, they sometimes ask why do I need to continue coming here and why do I do all of this therapy. The truth is pain is often the last symptom to arrive and the first symptom to leave. After the pain is gone the real work toward physical wellness begins. In fact, in most cases it can take between one and two years to get the body to a point of maintenance.

I know many people are put off by the comment “Once I start going to the chiropractor, I have to go for life.” The truth is our bodies fight physical, emotional and chemical stress every day and it takes its toll. So over time, this stress will wear the body down. We can help fight this stress by continuing periodic adjustments to keep the structure balanced.

For my own personal care, I found it very exciting when I got to a place of balance with my chiropractic care. I still go for my wellness adjustments, but I could focus on other things to get me to the next level of health and wellness. The first thing to confront was nutrition – how is what I’m eating affecting my body. Then I confronted the toxins and cleaners in my home and medicine cabinet by learning about and switching as much as possible to essential oils. But those were my goals.

What are your goals? Ask yourself what would your life look like in a place of balanced wellness? Would you want to run a 5K, 10k, half-marathon? Take in a yoga class at the gym? Not be so tired after a day with the grandkid? Eat more fruits and veggie? Whatever it is we want to help you get there!
