Stress and Depression can really affect your holidays and your ability to cope with them. The Mayo Clinic offers a few suggestions for dealing with stress throughout the holidays. My personal favorite is to the reminder to not abandon your healthy habits during this time of year. This doesn’t mean you can’t skip a few days at the gym or have a few holiday sweets, but everything in moderation, right?

There are a couple things that I would encourage people to seek out this time of year, especially if you are fighting stress. I know we are all busy with the added activities and shopping for the holidays, but I would encourage is to continue or start chiropractic care, especially during the holidays. Chiropractic simply helps your body remove the interference caused by physical, emotional and chemical stressors. This will help your body and your mind be better equipped to deal with the stresses that come your way.

My second favorite tip from this article is to take a breather. Take at least one break to pamper yourself with a massage. Massage will help loosen tight and tense muscles, remove toxins from the body and you fight stress by boosting your immune system.

I have struggled with holiday depression for as long as I can remember. One thing that really helps me now is using Essential Oils (along with chiropractic and massage, of course), specifically Uplifting Blend and Calming Essential Oil Blend. I find if I'm sad or fatigued these oils will help support my body and my emotions until I can rest and recharge away from the holiday festivities. For the first time, I feel like I have the tools to almost...dare I say...enjoy the holidays?
