With the wave of mobile devices came a new condition that many are not aware of: Text Neck. Our bodies often pay the price of doing increasingly more tasks on smaller devices. Approximately 83% of American adults own cell phones and nearly three-quarters of them send and receive text messages to an average of 41.5 messages per day.

Poor posture with the head drooping forward and rounding the shoulders while using a mobile device can cause neck strain, now called text neck. It’s never too late to start making some changes to get back on track.

First things, first: see your chiropractor to treat any spinal misalignments and to teach you ways to improve your posture and reduce the neck strain. Here are some more helpful tips.

 - Sit up straight with your shoulders back.

 - Bring your arms up in front of your eyes, so you don’t have to look down to see the screen.

 - Avoid using mobile devices while in bright sunlight.
