Many people still think that Chiropractic is simply for back pain, but chiropractic patients know that it is for so much more than just back pain. Many times people will come into our office for one symptom and then after starting treatment they find that symptoms they didn’t even tell us about were            decreasing or going away all together. But why do you think that is?

The body is all connected and all of the signals run from the brain through the spine to the end destination.  But what if something gets in the way of the signal? The signal may get “fuzzy” with interference sort of like an old tv with antennae, right? We call the thing that changes the signal a subluxation or a minor misalignment in the skeletal system. When we remove the subluxations throughout the body signals from the brain begin to flow allowing your body to immediately start healing.

To explain subluxation and interference more clearly, get a rubber band and put it on your index finger nice and tight. After a few minutes, the tip of your finger will begin to turn red, it will start to hurt, maybe start going numb. So what if we take some Tylenol? Will that make the problem go away? What if we give it a shot, will the problem go away then? What if we give it a little massage, would that make the  problem go away? The only way to get your finger tip to feel better is to remove the rubber band, right? The rubber band is the subluxation in this case. Only chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat subluxations.

Did you know that cervical vertebrae can subluxate on three different planes?  Think about it. With a  normal range of motion you can turn your head from left to right, you can nod your head down and back and you can tilt your head from shoulder to shoulder. Any and all of these vertebrae can be   subluxated on any or all of these planes at the same time wreaking havoc in a number of ways throughout your body.

After people find out what subluxation is their first question is “How did I get them?”.  Truth is the first     subluxation can occur at birth. We often consider the trauma that women go through to have babies, but sometimes we forget that the little bodies of the babies go through trauma, too. As we start to crawl and walk our little bodies take a lot of stress. As we grow, we play hard, running, jumping and  falling. Even more than that our bodies are stressed every day—physically, emotionally, chemically stressed. All of this weighs on our bodies; these types of stresses can cause subluxations.

But how can chiropractic help? It helps by removing these interferences throughout the body and allowing your body to function at the highest level.  Make sure that you see a chiropractor so that we can help keep your body functioning at the highest level. Whether your New Year’s goal is to work out and exercise more, to lose weight, to enjoy hobbies more, or to spend more time with the grandkids, you need to be at your best...and we can help.
