The American Chiropractic Association describes sciatica as "persistent pain felt along the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back, down through the buttock, and into the lower leg." It goes on to say, "the sciatic nerve is the longest and widest nerve in the body, running from the lower back through the buttocks and down the back of each leg. It controls the muscles of the lower leg and provides sensation to the thighs, legs, and the soles of the feet."

The ACA also warns that while "sciatica is a relatively common form of low-back and leg pain, the true meaning of the term is often misunderstood. Sciatica is actually a set of symptoms—not a diagnosis for what is irritating the nerve root and causing the pain."

Chiropractic is known to help sciatica and related symptoms. In our office we have therapies such as electric stimulation, roller table and more to help the muscles along with our chiropractic adjustments to align the bone. Here is a success story from one of our own team members.

Sarah Cox is our newest team member, she's been with us almost a year. Here is her story:

I have dealt with Right Hip pain since the birth of my second child. Along with the hip pain, I have had problems with my sciatic nerve. It is the most difficult pain to live with. Trying to get down on the floor  to sit or play with my kids was awful. Since I have started my care with Dr. Tripps, my pain has improved a ton! I can get down on the floor without pain and shooting pains from my sciatic nerve! It is an amazing feeling to know that by getting adjusted and doing spinal decompression on a regular basis helped me achieve this. I have minimal pain now and it continues to improve daily! I have our doctors to thank for this and to keep me on track with my treatment plan!
