Happy New Year…almost. This week you may be thinking about all the resolutions you want to make come midnight on New Year’s Eve. Many set expectations toward better health, more stable future or greater contentment with life. If you make it out of January with your resolutions well on the way, you are one of the determined few. This year let’s try something different, together! Rather than setting lofty ambiguous resolutions let’s set SMART Goals – Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Timeline Goals - for each aspect we want to change. Doing this may help us stay on track while being able to celebrate our wins along the way.

Here are some examples of some SMART Goals:

Resolution says: I want to lose weight this year.
SMART Goal says: I want to lose 100 pounds by next Christmas, so I need to lose an average of 2 pounds a week through healthy eating and exercise.

Resolution says: I want to stop taking pain medicine.
SMART Goal says: I need help getting out of pain. I’m going to see a chiropractor.

Resolution says: I’m going to be healthier this year.
SMART Goal says: I’m going to plan ahead for 3 meals a week and snack shopping and carry healthier foods and water with me as snacks.

Resolution says: I’m going to get in shape this year.|
SMART Goal says: I’m going to go to the gym 3 times a week and sign up for 1 yoga class.

We want to help you meet your goals! Come see us in the office and also check out our Facebook page for tips and ideas.
